The standard gearbox plate relies solely on lubricant between direct metal to metal surfaces, which if not maintained, over time leads to wear either in the gear mounting recesses or wear to the gears and shafts themselves, meaning a costly repair. The Malossi unit has replaced these direct metal to metal contact points with needle and ball bearing races to lower friction on the gear set by up to 8% for the MHR version, ensuring smoother running, less wear and more importantly no loss of power to the rear wheel.
